AT THE CORNER – MARCH NEWSLETTER

Cornerstone’s 2020 Vision

Grace and peace to you as we prepare to enter the season of Lent. It is with a grateful and humbled heart that I greet you in the Name of Jesus our Lord and Savior.

Cornerstone has been on the move as 2020 has begun. We have entered into a time of growth and renewal with exploring our vision for the next year. We have approved our SMART Goals for the year and are off to an amazing start in meeting our goals. I am so grateful to all who have participated in the developing of the vision and SMART Goals and to all who have eagerly agreed to participate in the leadership trainings and are registered to begin their participation in DISCIPLE, BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY.

This study is truly designed to transform members of the class into becoming disciples through a disciplined examination of the Bible with commentary and group discussion. I guarantee, if you fully commit yourself to this work and study, your life will be transformed. Classes begin on February 29th. Please be prepared with your Bible and something to write with.

And I am excited to transform our worship experience during Lent to a period of learning. Every Sunday as a congregation we will embark on the journey of moving from our ordinary to God’s Extraordinary. It is based on the study of Rev. Mike Slaughter’s book “Made For a Miracle: From Your Ordinary to God’s Extraordinary.” Each week we will examine how our everyday life and gifts were divinely created for God’s purpose. We will discover that God’s miracles typically have two dimensions: divine intervention and human responsibility. Luke 9:1-2 reminds us of the mission of the disciples, “Then Jesus called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.” Each one of us can have these same gifts as well as others, to transform God’s world from brokenness, suffering and strife. I look forward to this time of Christian renewal and growth. See you on the journey.

Sincerely,

Rev. Elizabeth C. Abel
